Seen as something that is uniquely New Zealand, innovative and creative, Air New Zealand has watched proudly over the years as the Montana WOW Awards have grown into what it is today, an iconic New Zealand event with a world wide reputation. Due to the growth of the Montana WOW Awards and after 16 years in Nelson, the Awards moved to Wellington in 2005 in order to ensure its long-term sustainability and to grow and develop the show creatively.
Today Air New Zealand's commitment to the Montana WOW Awards is as strong as ever. The Air New Zealand South Pacific Section reflects our strong Pacific heritage and fits perfectly with our role as an Australasian and Pacific Island carrier.
Describing the Montana World of WearableArt Awards to those who have not experienced it is challenging as it is like no other show. Suzie Moncrieff, Creator/Director of WOW who dreamed up the original concept, describes it as "taking art off the wall and using it to adorn the body - it is art in motion. The imagination is the only limit!" She further combined this concept into a theatrical performance, using choreography, dance props, music, lights and special effects.
More than 193 creations were selected to be part of the 2007 Montana World of WearableArt Awards and included a raft of entries from designers from as far afield as Asia, USA, the UK and Australia.
This year the awards will take place again at the TSB Bank Arena, Queens Wharf, Wellington. There are nine performances in the 2008 Show season which take place over two weekends:
25 - 28 September & 1 - 5 October
